When you take on a nanny, you become an employer and have to calculate tax and National Insurance for your employee, with all the legal and financial responsibilities that entails. HMRC apply penalties even to inexperienced employers who are late with their paperwork and payments.

For a small annual fee (only £138, for monthly pay or £234 for weekly pay, including VAT) you will be able to avoid the many pitfalls associated with running your own PAYE scheme and will be able to rest assured that you are complying fully with all relevant legislation.

When taking on a nanny, it’s important to have a written agreement detailing what is expected of both the employer and the employee. This provides you both with peace of mind and is also essential to remain compliant with employment law.

The law on workplace pensions has changed. Under the Pensions Act 2008, every employer in the UK must put certain staff into a pension scheme and contribute towards it. This is called ‘automatic enrolment’. This requirement is being rolled out gradually for employers but by 2018 it is likely that all employers will need to comply with the regulations for new employees as soon as the employment starts.

PAYE for Nannies have a number of services available to help with this obligation ranging from simply processing the contributions in the payroll through to handling all of the payments and administrative burden with the Pensions Regulator and the pension provider (NEST).

We also offer a competitively priced public liability insurance product for nannies. Nannies require a policy such as this to be registered with Ofsted and for you to pay them using Childcare Vouchers.
